Who We Are, What We Do

The Angleton Drainage District is a Conservation and Reclamation District.

An election was held on January 14th, 1908 for the creation of the Angleton Drainage District. On January 20, 1908 in a Special Session of Commissioner’s court, the votes were canvassed and two-thirds of the voters within the District voted in favor of forming the Angleton Drainage District of Brazoria County.

The Angleton Drainage District is responsible for the major outfalls within the City of Angleton and surrounding area. The Angleton Drainage District maintains the Angleton Protection Levee. The Protection Levee construction began in 1913 and was completed in 1915. The Angleton Protection Levee protects the City of Angleton & surrounding area from Brazos River Flooding.
